One Sunday evening, back in April 2025, Sally and I were considering holiday possibilities and travel in general. I asked, “If you were to ever have a big adventure, what would you do?”
I was interested to see if she’d go for travelling in another continent, Africa, Asia, South America, or perhaps a journey around Europe. Her reply surprised me.
“I’ve always wanted to cycle from my front door here in Wirksworth, to my sister’s front door on Spetses in Greece.”
“Where would you stay?”
“I’d camp.”
I thought about this at work the next day. How could it work? I texted her that evening:
“I don’t think it’s practical to do it this year but how about we do it next year? I think we’d need to take about 3 months over it. I reckon I could work out a way to agree that with work. What do you think?”
“Let’s do it!”
15 months later and we are 1 week from departure. It’s very exciting.
